Today while out cruising, I went against something I am not about, "dumpster-diving". I saw this beauty sitting curbside next to piles of bagged rubbish. I wasn't expecting much other than the cast iron legs being unbroken & top complete to possibly make into a repurposed makeshift table of sorts. So as I made a quick U-Turn and parked along the street where this beauty was standing. A sudden quick peak turned into a heart-stopper right away....the Singer sewing machine was still inside, attached, intact, & fully-functional. The wood drawers were also complete & undamaged. Not to mention the drawer locks, iron drawer clasps & all screws. No lie, lifting this piece was not a light pick-up & drive away piece. Especially with the sewing machine inside, (very very top-heavy). Anyhow, after a thorough look-over & wiping down, this wonderful antique Singer foot-pedaled was completely operational. To the exception of a broken needle and the leather belt/cord missing. But all-in-all, today's "dumpster dive" find made my day! =)

      Thanks for rescuing it Tom!
Even if you never use the machine I think the cabinets themselves are fantastic.
Needles for these are available on the web as are belts. As a patch up job I remember my Nana using a stocking tied up to drive the machine from the treadle!

Nice find. Singer model 15 with Pheasant decals. Where did you find information about the date Tom? What is her serial number? I would expect a machine from 1887 to be a fiddle base.
    17. keramikos, 3 years ago
As usual, Bernadette was on top of it. :-)

I suspect that tom61375 was using that patent date (Jan 4, 1887) on the leg of the treadle for the date of the sewing machine head.

The sewing machine head does indeed look like a model 15:

Probably the oldest sub-model it could be with that rectangular bed is the 15-22:
