This seems to be a very old chinese bronze tomb vessel with owl face, I know little about it. It is made of cast bronze, 1.5kg in weith and 25cm high. The lid has a phoenix design and the body has an owl front and back. It is a great memento from my holiday and will add to my collection. From searching the web it appears to be from 1500BC to 220AD and a wine or water jar but any more info would be appreciated.
Welcome!!
even if it turns out to be new and made to look old, it's beautiful! i really like owls. welcome to cw, where you'll get more answers to questions that you didn't even know you had!
well you got a lot of wine vessels like ZUN- FANQYI -GONG-YOU -GU- POU- HE -HU
it depends on the purpose and the shape, it was meant for EXPENSIVE wine probably
this an YOU not so likely to ZHOU period but middle or late SHANG period
the corrosion is completely impossible to be old, so IMO this is made very recent
not so bad patina by the way
