Well I think one is an owl and the other a penguin but these two go well together!
The brass owl is actually a container whose head comes off the spun brass base. It has no sticker but I can see where one was and the shape looks like the ubiquitous "Made in India". Cute hey! Love the hypnotic eyes.
His insomniac mate is from Skruf Glasbruk Sweden. This is actually a contemporary piece designed by Eva-Lena Martinsson.
Both around 10cm (4in) high.
Goofy 'gufi'!
Lol!!
Thanks Vet!
LOL!!! Kevin!!
Adorable
May not seem like much but spinning is a little more difficult than you might think. On a piece such as the Owl, depending on the gauge of material, it would involve multiple trips to and from the lathe and the anneal (furnace). Not to mention a great deal of strength and fitness.
Thanks Dubone. Brass work is not something I am knowledgeable about so I appreciate your info!
That little owl would be so heavy if solid brass, he is delightful !~
