Yesterday I had another curbside find. This beautiful serpentine oak highboy flagging me down waving arms and all, and signed B. E. M. (in old-style cursive, reverse side). I was heading out early to checkout some thrift stores. Furniture being my new spiel. I decided to take a side street, out of a whim & lack of morning coffee. As I approached all I could see was the backside, (would you look at the swing on that back porch, LOL) and a slight knot in my stomach said, "EUREKA!". All was intact except for no knobs. The bottoms of the drawers were lined with very very old wrapping paper. And I also found a 1909 penny in the bottom drawer. I guess some shortcuts can payoff! =^D

I certainly appreciate all things wood. I can't bring your pictures in close without them blurring but what I see is curly maple. You know best what you have but you might want to get a second opinion.

The BEM is probably the veneer mark. Your side view shows veneer starting to delaminate. A good man with a glue syringe and hot iron can repair that and keep it original.
