Take a look at the bottom of your drum, or a closer look at the top. There should be some raised lettering and numbers in a roughly trinomial layout, like xx-xx-xx. The first number will tell you the gauge steel used to make the drum (likely 18 or 20), the next number will tell you the number of gallons (likely 25 or 30), and the last two digits should tell you the year the drum was made (for example, 48 means 1948). There should also be some letters there that are the name or initials of the drum manufacturers name, like Rheem or GCSB for Gulf Coast Steel Barrel. Let me know what you find. I have no idea about value or worth.
