Hi, I bought this a while ago. I took a chance on it. Anyways -- can anyone help? There are faint numbers on it that look like: 70633B AND is the Signature. It also says on the bottom:
To Loretta
Best Wishes
Michael Doulton
#146
Oct 81
It is 8.5 inches tall, and about 6.5 inches wide. So confused here as I do not think it is a Doulton piece -- but looks to be signed by him. Is it him? It looks like real writing....IMHO
Any info always welcomed!!
The figure kinda looks like ANDREA for SADEK but mine is still different as it is more Vertical (straight up). Also not sure about the mark on mine is different. So I just do not know...........?

It is a lovely piece, but I cannot identify items like this.
Leelani, Thank you for bringing this post of a beautiful bird figurine back to the top of the stack. :-)
antiquerose, This old mystery intrigued me, so I did a little poking around, and got at least a partial answer.
That "crown over A" china mark apparently is Alfro London, a mid-twentieth century importer of figurines from Japan:

As to the Michael Doulton signature, that remains a mystery.

I suppose it's possible that Michael Doulton could have signed a non-Royal Doulton figurine as a kindness to the original owner (especially if they were very young or very old), but with that "#146," mark, it strikes me as the work of somebody else trying to pass it off as something more valuable. :-(
It's still a beautiful figurine.
