IM NOT SURE-but I think its some kind of press. The thing I cant belive is the date on it! wow its old! If anybody has any info on this thing I would love to hear about it! it says best yet on it-I wonder what that means. As in this 1 is the best-:):)-- well if anybody knows -I would really app' it! thank you
hole bunch or riviter? looks some what like stapler. what do I know. cool. love the date
Most likely a Rivet Setter, many trades, leather working, and some were used on automotive brake shoes. The Patent dates are valid for 1900, but I was unable to find the company. The casting could have carried that date for many years, or until the company stopped producing that casting. Nice find!! Regards, Lou
what if it was a hand stamp machine,.. for a town seal or some thing like that...hmmmmm lol
Na that aint it its a vintage hand press to punch out primers from shells..ya that's the ticket ...
or press them in ....lol
or both .....lol
I would say rivets and grommets in leather work. Doesn't look like the anvil was ever used.
Hello, fhrjr2. We seem to be in agreement on its use. That screw cap is interesting, is it there to store rivets, or to maintain the mechanism? I have a couple similar tools here, I will ty to dig them out!!
Sorry, " I will try to dig them out!! "
