The label on these says Unconditionally Guaranteed Star Creations Et REG. PAT. Another sticker says JAPAN. These are ceramic or porcelain bookends... they aren't heavy enough to be bookends though. They remind me of a French couple. I don't think that they are valuable or anything but I'm sure they are vintage. My grandson wants them. lol
Anyway, I was hoping one of you have run across something similar. I would like to have documentation on what they are for him when he grows up and gets them from me. He's six so he has a ways to go. Any ideas? Has anyone even seen this label? I appreciate your thoughts and time.
Hi FOV, the Japan label is a classic 50s label. I look for that label. I have seen this couple before I think...at least him. I believe they are suppose to be drunk. Sometimes you add beans to these to weight it down...assume no plug? If not probably a decoration for the bar.
Thank you, AmberRose! There have been one or two friends tell me they thought 60s but I thought otherwise. I am glad you think 50s. They are unusual to be sure. Also, I think they are fairly fragile so I imagine there aren't many good examples. I love history and like to preserve it when possible. Even the cheap stuff! Since they seem to be holding their tummies so I guess they could be sick or drunk. lol Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Best,
FOV
