Dick Tracy is a comic strip featuring Dick Tracy, a square-jawed, hard-hitting, fast-shooting, and intelligent police detective. Created by Chester Gould, the strip made its debut on October 4, 1931, in the Detroit Mirror. It was distributed by the Chicago Tribune New York News Syndicate. Gould wrote and drew the strip until 1977.
I am posting today a first issue Dick Tracy wristwatch made by New Haven circa 1935. This is larger watch compared to the post WWII Dick Tracy watches which are 25% smaller in size and the graphics are slightly different. It has Chester Gould's signature between number 4 and 5 on the dial.
I vaguely remember Kerry10456 had mentioned something about Dick Tracy's hat which comes in several different colours on the dial of the 1935 issues and some colours are harder to find than others. Perhaps Kerry can kindly elaborate on this! Cheers Kerry!
For comparison, this is the link for Kerry's 35' Dick Tracy watch : http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/113324-1935-new-haven-dick-tracy-wrist-watch?in=activity

Ditto Sean! Love the old characters and it's great to see them on watches. What a classic piece!
Hats are Blue, Grey/ Brown......first issue is the Grey/Brown.....the blue is variant #2......touch smaller casing also...approx. 1.5 mm and smoothed edge, no rib
