You should be able to research this in the DOD national ammunition database.

It's from the UK. The 'B' is for bomb. It's a mortar box. He is a list of what and how many it could contain:

      Box B167 as of 1943:
3" QF howitzer HE 4 rounds per box
2" ML mortar HE fuzed 18 per box
2" ML mortar Sand dummy fuze 18 per box
2" ML mortar smoke mkII 18 per box
2" ML mortar smoke 2" BT18 per box
2" ML mortar smoke bursting, fuzed 18 per box
2" ML mortar signal red 18 per box
2" ML mortar signal green18 per box
2" ML mortar multi red 18 per box
2" ML mortar multi green 18 per box
2" ML mortar multi red and green 18 per box
2" ML mortar multi white 18 per box
2" ML mortar illuminating, with parachute 18 per box
Grenades No 77 det assemblies 34 per box

The contents would be stenciled on the top right and on the front, and sides.

Obviously it was made in 1944.

Since WWII was 1939-1945, it's from WWII.
