Picked this up today. Would love to know something about it if any experts can share. I can't seem to find anything on it. It has a leather handle, brass hardware. Striped lining. I also purchased a Louis Vuitton steamer from the same owner.
Hi Cac1.. I missed this post somehow. Please resubmit your pictures in the right direction and offer a close up of the latch for better understanding of the piece. Looks like a European suitcase circa 1920's or 30's.
Thanks so much for your help. I have posted two additional photos- I hope that helps. The dimensions are approx 24x18x12
I really can't find anything on it except the slightest hint of the numbers 77 etched into leather on the backside- it's so worn down you can hardly read it and it won't even show up in a photo. I can't even be sure that it doesn't ready 17.
I'm no expert and it is very hard to tell without a makers mark Having said that ,I'm thinking British made as I once owned an item that was one size larger (Cabin Trunk)with an interior tray with similar attributes .(I.E.
The brass latch locks and corner hardware were spot on.as well as the interior stripped linen and colored ribbon pattern is almost exact). Mine was marked Finnigans of London. The lack of brass nails on the slats are another give away. The British, rarely used as manny as the French, or Belgians . Some other resources
that might help La Malle en coin.com (Valise) this web site is wonderful once you translate into english. or possibly BelMal.com which is less user friendly ,but has points of contacts for european trunk databases.
Drill,
Thanks so much for any insight. I really appreciate your help.
