As promised I took several pics . It's the craziest most magnificent piece of artwork I've ever seen. The carving in the ivory is amazing, so much work must of went into this and it is signed. Shown in one of the pics, just can't make it out. Please help me solve this mystery . I can't wait to find out what it is:) thanks everyone!!!
Plastic.
Carved bone or ivory does not leave both positive and negative artifacts on the surface. Those are signs of dirt on the object being molded and gas bubbles in the resin that form when it heats up or because it was mixed too aggressively and not subjected to a vacuum while curing.
The broken areas are identical to how case plastic objects tend to break.
If it was ivory, a valuable substance, the base would have been made of a less valuable substance and not be painted brown to look like wood.

That's true I wondered why the base wasn't wood. It's so intricate , so much detail and work done to it I thought maybe it was something special. On the bright side I now have a 5 foot tall paper weight.lol. Thanks for your help.
You are very welcome. Well you should never have a paper blow away;)

Wait, it's ivory and that is a wood base. I have a friend who owns a pawn shop one of his employees looked at it who said it's ivory and when I ask about the base he said it's a wood base. My buddy actually made an offer going just on that. I don't want to sell I just want to know it's origin. Is there anyway for me to take pictures so that the forum can get a better idea as to what it is?
