This is it, the last piece of furniture I have. :( And the last for a long time, as I am out of space in the new home. This is a drop leaf table. Nice little table I found at an estate sale. I am guessing 20th century? I really love the turnings on this piece. Thick and decorative. The pocket holes are hand cut and done without a jig. The beams that hold the leafs up are also hand carved at the end. Kind of little notches that makes them easy to grab and swing. Enjoy!
Nice table!
I love these early drop leafs-- yours appears to date from the mid to late 19th century.

interesting, thanks for the comment and info scottvez! I really love the table. Just the top is not in the best condition. Needs resurfacing, something I do not plan on doing. Take care!
Are you saying this is maple wood or maple stain? I would more than agree with 20th century but not sure I could go along with hand cut pockets.
fhr, I was saying the wood is maple, but half of the time I am guessing...as you know by now.
Just added a close up of the pocket... I think it is hand worked...no?
is it cherry? I need to learn my woods.
Nice table!
