This fairy lamp was commissioned by Samuel Clarke and advertised in an 1887 color ad and in his 1887 catalog. In comes in three colors blue, pink, and citron. It also comes in two sizes, pramid size (2.25" d.) and fairy size (3.25" d.) The first image is the smaller pyramid size on a Taylor & Tunnicliff decorated base. The second image is the larger fairy size on a plain Taylor & Tunnicliff base. The last image is the color 1887 advertisement showing them on the Taylor & Tunnicliff bases.
I understand this lamp has been attributed to the Bohemian company Hartmann & Dieterichs. However, I believe this fairy lamp is from a British glass house. I have no hard evidence. However, the 1887 advertisement came out the same time as Webb's Queen's Burmese ads came out and the decoration on this lamp is very similar to Barbe's Woodbine/ Virginia Creeper design.
This lamp is one of the very first decorative fairy lamps commissioned by Clarke. From 1887 to 1910 Clarke's decorative fairy lamps and elegant Cricklites would dominate the market.
Beautiful!!
