This is a work in progress found in Utica N.Y. Rare 5 banded (Saratoga) Jenny lind with 5 slats . Another posting of a similar trunk with the covering in black was posted By MghMarie posting number 44 (she was gracious enough to share photos of the interios paper and compartments in tact with me to aide in my refinishing,Thanks again).This might help everyone to envision what it should look like before being stripped of the embossed paper or leather.I unfortunately had to strip the covering as it was already 3/4 missing when found.But still worth the 3 hr. ride. The interior of this trunk is quite hammered and will need much work.I do possess the original barrel key for the lock which is great to have.I'll
post pictures after I'm done.

That's a great shape on that one. I can help you fix that keyhole cover if you haven't done one before. Also it is not a Saratoga. This is a common mistake that has been perpetuated by certain individuals. A Saratoga trunk (not Saratoga grade, no such thing) is "a very large trunk" So, a Saratoga for the time period of this trunk would have been a large 32"-34" square banded trunk. I have several articles from 1858 on that confirm this. I will try and post one now.
