This isn't exactly my style, but i recognized the fine quality as soon as i saw it at Goodwill today. This must have been a 21 year old horse rider's birthday gift.

Hello, there! Been away a long time, but had to check CW daily email to check for Vetraio's most splendid series on Belgian postcards, and saw today that you had posted some nice things, too. I log onto CW for just a few moments to comment on this charming box. I will have to return to Vetraio's rich series later, since I can't study it properly now.
I think that this is some sort of commemorative or gift of the legendary 21 Club in Manhattan. The logo on the interior of the lid looks to me like one of the 21 Club logos. Here's a link to an image of one of the logos. Link One below is to the restaurant's/club's home page.

By the way, the one statue of 'St. George or St. Michael' is depicts St. George, I think. Should have wings if Michael; also, wouldn't have that kind of helmet if Michael, probably. Regards, miKKo
