Found at an estate auction with many other bottles. Loved the waffle/square pattern! Saw it was marked Ball on the bottom but knew it wasn't traditional Ball design. Did Ball take over some companies and continue putting out glassware with their name affixed?

I also have some of these jars - two different sizes. One has a P-1133 - another has the Ball logo and 5030, a third has no Ball on it but the numbers 8203-this jar I suspect is not a Ball jar even though it looks similar the honeycomb is diamonds not squared. Any inof would be helpful. Thanks

Now I was always told or heard, that (and I also have several in different sizes) that they were peanut butter jars. I wish I did know what they were used for originally. On the one side that is not crossed patterned, I place a label for different stuff I store in them. All I know is I like them.

My elderly mother told me these were peanut butter jars. I think they are pretty and have collected many (cheap) at estate sales. I still use them for canning and just put up 16 quarts of mixed pint and quart jars of grape juice.

I just bought a square pattern jar , and was told they were in grocery stores in the 1930's filled with anything from pickles to peanut butter. Mine came with a zinc screw on top with a ceramic insert. I'm now hooked on collecting vintage jars.

This jar was used for peanut butter.
