Adolph on patent.
Adolph Katz, as Chief Designer for CORO spring-summer collection in 1944, created this sterling silver , rhinestone & enamel Rock Fish Brooch. Most notably by Roberto Brunialti in "American Costume Jewelry: Art & Industry, Vol. 1".
The bright fuscia rhinestone eyes contrast beautifully with the large faceted aqua (or referred to as azure) glass stone in his mouth. This is complimented by the touches of pink and blue enamel on his gills and tail. Patterned scales on his body of vermeil. Clear rhinestones. Locking c-clasp closure and is marked "Sterling Corocraft" with a Pegasus on a rectangular cartouche. He measures a large 3" x 2 1/4". This belonged to my mother.

Wonderful brooch! It must be special to you.
What a great brooch! It is really a book piece!
I would call it a Blue Ling Cod!
Wow, what a Piece !! What type of fish is that ? Reminds me of a piranha with his mouth opened like that ... LOL. That is a Show stopper piece !!
This appears to be a colorful version of a Lion Fish.
Melanie this is a breathtaking piece, a rare & fabulous Corocraft which is said to have been a top of the line Coro division - what a great memento from your mother she had wonderful taste. Miss you on CW & hope we'll be seeing you again soon! - Jenni
