Carnival glass is a kind of decorative glass with an iridescent shine to it. The unique aspect of carnival glass is its metallic shine and this is due to the application of many kinds of metallic salts during the making of this glass.
the square covered piece is Jeannette's Acorn Oak pattern and many folks call the color amberina. However, the red is actually painted on amber, and I'm not sure what Jeannette may have called the color combination. Be careful when cleaning as the red will easily scratch.
