I just came across this at an estate sale in an album full of late 1800's pics the other day. I saw one in almost identical condition sold at Cowen last year for $2580! Anyone have any idea how much this one is worth? I'm not sure what I am going to do with it! For now it displayed on my endtable!
Ron,
I think you just hit the jackpot. The same photo sold at Nate D. Sanders Auction
in 2009 for $7000.00! (Do I get a commission?-- just kidding) Check this out: http://www.natedsanders.com/ItemInfo.asp?ItemID=28478
I hate to say this , but you may not have hit the jackpot . The signatures do not look the same to me . Also the one that sold for that much was authenicated most likely the signature . I think that is what could make it so valuable or not . Just my opinion I am not expert by any means . It is worth checking out however .
Yes, Nancy, I believe you're right. Ron will have to have the signature authenticated.
It's a neat photo anyway!
MOST of these on the market have a printed signature and not an actual hand signed signature.
I would take the time and get some opinions on the signature/ stamp to determine if it is an actual signature.
An authentic signature will take it into the higher price ranges.
With a printed signature, it is still very desirable and in the $400- $600 range.

I am not sure what type of gun that Anne Oakley used for most of her shooting-great photo thanks for sharing.
The one at Cowan's was the same as this one. That is pretty good money no matter how you count it. Cabinet cards are a fun collectible, especially when you can get them for a good price.
fhrjr2-- I just looked at Cowan's post auction results and not only is this card similar it is the EXACT same card (same slight staining in the exact same spots).
Amazing that it would end up back on the market less than two years later inside an album, when it was sold individually for almost $3k.

I see the date originally posted was about a year ago, so this hit the market inside an album 8 months after the original purchase price of $3k??
Yes indeed. I wondered if anyone else would take the time to view it. Certainly is the same picture. It says this was posted here 12 months and four days ago so that is amazing. I also noted that Cowan said it was a facsimile signature.
