This is the F300 model designed by the French designer Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1964. Paulin was one of the best designers in both France and Europe during the 1960s and 1970s. He had a huge imagination and managed to create incredible chairs using the by then newest techniques and materials. If you look closely at his designs (collage on pic 3 -by the way, I totally love making these collages!-) you'll see there's one thing in common to all of them: the greatest simplicity in both shape and construction. It really looks like he created a completely new univers of furniture.
The F300 is made of fiberglass and reinforced polyester, although at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (which is located at the north wing of the Louvre and which is well worth a visit whenever you visit the city), they have what I believe to be a prototype made out of plywood, or maybe an early plywood version of the chair. The F300 is also kept at the MOMA collection.
This revolutionary design was made for both indoors and outdoors use. Removing the upholstered part of it you have an all fiberglass chair (pic. 2) with a drain hole on the lowest part of the seating shell. The bases were made mostly in white although can also be found in red and black.
It is a highly sculptural chair and very, very comfortable.
On pic 4 you can see the red and yellow F300 we've got at home.

Thanks RACER for your love and the nice comments!!!! Yes, I'm a graphic designer (or at least I used to... sadly, I'm just one of the 6 millions unemployed persons in Spain).
Thanks for looking and loving VIOLET and VALENTINO!!!
Wow, Valentio, you've done work for some of the great firms! In fact I don't want to work as a graphic designer anymore... waht can you do when a graphic artist is truly needed but always under-under-undervalued?
Thanks for your love, MIKE!!!
NORDICMAN, thanks so much for your love!!!
Hi Austro! These look fantastic, comfortable? I like that long snake-y couch!
Question...those J Bang canisters I have sent you...you are missing the smallest??? If so, guess what I found!!
Thanks AMBER!
Yes, they are! very comfortable!
The long couch is amazing. I think it was produced or at least re-issued by Habitat... but of course one needs a very special place to afford displaying it "in its full glory"!!! LOL It's made of diferent smallers ones, so at least a small one could be place at a normal house.
Really???? Oooooh :) Those are so nice! I've got mine now on storage... hope everything will be displayed at the new studio by Chrsitmas.
:)
Thanks for loving them SKLO and BUDEK!!!
