This is an American Waltham 14 Fk gold pocket watch. I don't know much about it, but it does have a doctor's symbol inscribed on the inside cover. I'm hoping that Pops52 can tell me something about this watch. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas I would be happy to hear what you have to say.

It's a beautiful watch and watch holder. The case is a Fahys http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Fahys_%26_Co.

Could you take some pics of the face of the watch and the movement (include the serial number on the movement) we can go from there.

Thanks Pops52, I opened the back and was able to read American Waltham Watch co beautifully written, and it also says Safety Barrel 8589223. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work.

Size 6 would be a ladies watch. Also, the case is 14k gold filled. Fahys didn't make a solid gold pocket watch case under the Fahys name. I would have to do more research.

You took a great shot of the movement! It just may need a good servicing (clean and oil)

Thanks pops52, I see that it says 14Fk so I guess that means filled. I also posted a couple more pictures as you requested.

      Thanks Shareurpassion.

Pops52, I wouldn't know where to begin to try to clean and oil this watch.

You would have to find a watch repair in your area. The proper way is to disassemble the movement and clean all the parts, check for wear, put it back together adjust and oil.

Pops52, I think I'll leave that to someone that knows what they're doing. Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it!
