This was given to me by an old friend yesterday. Her father was a doctor in Uruguay who collected lots of interesting things. He had over 200 of these at one time. This is solid and very heavy - much more so than it looks.
I would love one of these.
I want this!
Thanks Peasejean55 and pops52! it was a gift and will be staying w/ me.
Door knocker . I have seen lots especiaslly in Europe love them.
very hot on the east coast too. i found one deep in the woods where i grew up when i was a kid. smaller and not as nice as this one.
Love it too!! Yes, here in my country were used long time ago and still you can see someone in old houses with an adorable European style, very romantic.
Thanks so much for share!
Great comment Riply206, yes, were popular and adorables.

Very and very interesting and yes, you are right, european style have this shape.
Thanks so much!!
Very interesting info Riply206!! i had no idea it was such an old cultural icon for a variety of cultures/religions. since it is more of an iron ball in the hand, than a fruit, would this be considered more of a Jewish or Arabic one? or a European one? i realize that it is broken. i think it's very old or at least has that feel to it.
she has a ring on her middle finger. i wonder what that represents?
Love it!
Ripely, such great info. Thanks!
I remember in my childhood that next to my house lived a Jewish family and in the front old door they had this type of iron hand as door knocker.
Im thinking now that my country its a mix of cultures with European predominance and a big Jewish community.
I dont know what can represent the ring in her finger.
