    A relatively new purchase.

I have so much trench art in my collection that I rarely purchase new pieces. I have the criteria that a piece must be very unusual or the seller must be "giving it away". These fell into the second category.

The P-38 is easy to identify-- not so sure on the other two.

All of the planes have expertly modeled cockpits from bullets. No holes in the bottom, so these were not finished or not made to be held atop a shell and bullet base (as is typically encountered).

Reproduction of these images in any form is prohibited.

P38 Lightning is the first one, and presumably P40 Warhawk is the other two.

I built a model of the p-38 king time ago. The box said the Japanese called the p-38 the 'fork tailed devil'.

      It is an interesting plane.

The P-38 was the most commonly made trench art model of WW2. I see about fifty P-38 airplanes for every other model of airplane.

I do have several other harder to find trench art planes posted on CW, if you care to take a look at my other postings.

Very cool! My son is well versed on W W II planes. I'll have him take a look.

As some have already posted, my son confirmed that the small ones are P40's.

Thanks for looking and commenting rita. I have others with better executed P-40s, but do agree-- there isn't anything else that I could pin it down to.
