This watch was given to me by my lovely grandmother more than 32 years ago when I was 12. I was fascinated by pocket watches, and she wanted to hand me over this one before she left us.
It is a very big pocket watch (see comparison), so I guess it was more of a decoration piece on a shelf than a real pocket watch. I am trying to find information on it. I have no background on pocket watches history and I am looking to find out as much info as possible. The serial number in the 3 covers always states a single #10003. It is in perfect working condition still!! I wind it up every now and then just to hear it's ticking sound.
BTW, it is silver, though pictures look like gold with the warm white light I used while taking the pictures.
Thank you for any information.
#UPDATE# After 3 years still trying to get information on this pocket watch!! Anyone can help? thank you all!
awesomely complicated pocket watch,..hopefuly one of the more adept geeks can give you more info but its an amazign piece!
oh ,..does it chime when you slide the big smooth lever on the upper right side,..looks like it might be a repeater
Thanks for you comments shawnicus!
No, the outside lever at the "1" o'clock position is for setting the time. You press it in and then you can use the big crown to move the handles. The crown function by itself is only for winding, can't be pulled out to set the time like in most pocket watches
What a beautiful pocket watch you inherited ! Love it
