There's only one thing I can say about this small 6" tall pitcher from Salvation Army .... It's gorgeous ! Not even all the hairline cracks can take anything away from it. Intricate Neo Classical figures of cherubs, griffons and urns against a pale lavender background which is repeated on the opposite side. A vine and grape border at the top with that amazing spout decorated with a mask of Dionysus. There is no mark on the bottom. So I haven't been able to track down the maker. It has the look of a Wedgwood piece. It also has a very glass like feel, but it must be porcelain. The are a lot of hairline stress cracks mostly to the bottom and handle but nothing looks glued. I think they might have been caused by thermal shock from a hot liquid. As to it's use, I'm not sure. It does have a wine theme to it but it's small enough to be possibly a milk pitcher. Maybe even for sauces or gravies . Seems Victorian to me but might be even older. All opinions are welcome. -Mike-

this is a beauty and it does remind me of my copper luster piece. it also reminds me a bit of a Royal Doulton pitcher i found, but only because of the face on the spout.

Thanks ho2 :)...Royal Doulton hmmm, I knew I've seen that face on the spout somewhere before. Maybe that's where. Thanks for jogging my memory.

No luck at all and it's been a while too, care to guess ? :).... you would think something this unique would show up somewhere online..but it's still a mystery.
