One off the many projects to tackle. A lot of nail work on top- Indigo blue Crystallized finish/alternating/brown crystallized finish originally but you can only tell from spots under the lid and around handles. Found in Saratoga Springs NY. over the weekend(6 hr road trip turned into ten but thats another story) not bad for 60 bucks.Embossed tin over the center of the slats. cast hardware. no top tray (Bummer) But cool paper on the inside. My favorite(other than the small front slats)
is the 2 pcs. of paper tacked to the side .I thought they were travel stickers/not at all. Turns out in 1921 thru 1923 Jamestown Public schools tacked your report card on the shipping label back to Oswego NY. (maybe so your parents could see the grades I don't know.)Two kids names and addresses. (Gives me cool stuff to research)Before I mail them back to the Jamestown historian for safe keeping.

Neat trunk Drill! The Oct 23, 77 patent is one of Charles Taylor's. He had quite a few parts patents and then sold the rights to a parts maker in CT that sold the parts to many trunk makers. That's why those parts show up on lots of trunks by different makers. The front latches were patented in 1882 by John Sessions Co, they company that made the Taylor hardware styles. Nice trunk with some unusual features as you know. I always like to see something unusual in trunks. Thanks!

Incidentally,I have only seen this slat design image by one manufacturer,but I'm sure there were others. L.B.Clark & Son trunk and traveling bag and Co. Canajonarie, N.Y. . This trunk was found in Saratoga Springs which is in close proximity to this Manufacturers location.
