So... this is our item No.500. I didn't realized this until I posted the previous item and both Carlos and Vetraio made me see it was No. 499... I thought this one should be something special, and I think this little set can fairly be considered special.
These lidded boxes are some of the last documented designs Hans Bolek made for Lötz.
Technically they are SERIES III, PROD. NR. 861 (4 Kügeln). Ausführung 165.
The small one is JADE GRÜN MIT OPAL and stands 9 cm. tall.
The big one is HIMMEL BLAU MIT OPAL and stands 14,5 cm. tall.
This design was made in 1916/1917, although in 1920 it was reissued with only three Kügeln (ball-feet).
The big blue box was bought at an actual auction in Barcelona where it had a ridiculously low starting price. No one bid for it but Carlos. The reasons for this?
a) probably nobody knew what it was
b) all the attention was focused on a collection of Lladró figurines
On pic. 4 you can see on top views of the green box from both above and below. You can see the four ball-feet and that the white dotted lines are in fact crossing at the center. The two images at the bottom show the paper pattern for this design and one more box in red (probably Kaiser rott). These boxes were made in an endless list of Tango colours.
Gee you boys are lucky ..and have very good taste !

As a matter of fact these two boxes are displayed between a yellow tango vase (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/117575-tango-yellow-vase-from-ltz?in=collection-152), and a half black half red one (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/56951-loetz-vase?in=collection-2675), against a red wall... I'd say yes, pretty colourful! LOL
Agh, these links seem not to work... This ne is for the yellow vase

Thanks for your love KUNSTHAMMER and AMBER!!!
Everything fine, Amber. We are exhausted from these non-stop walking and looking for amazing buildings days, but in a couple of days we'll be like new ;)
We purchased no glass items (we saw some great Lötz and Lötz-Tango items, some of them actually quite well prized -others with a crazy price- but were not "the right pieces" :) ). I got myself a modern reproduction of a cubist ashtray -wanted to get it years ago and et it go, so this was the time to get it at last. I'll share it here soom I guess- and Carlos found a little treasure. I wanted to make it my item No.500, but after the whole journey I feel too lazy to start taking pics of items from our collections). You all will see it soon though.

Hooray for those Lladro collectors :)
LOL Hooray for them, BOHEMIAN!!!
The funny thing is that antique dealers in Barcelona say that collecting Lötz is something "very Catalan"... I see they just mean Art Nouveau iridiscent Lötz, because noone there knew what they were looking at! :)
