This very beautiful bowl was a thrift store find. It is beautifully painted and has an aged patina. I can't read the potters mark. Any ideas?

It's Chinese 'famille rose' with an old mark that is upside down in your photo. The marks on these wares are always dubious. It claims to be 'Yongzheng' - 1723 -1735. But that mark is printed. So it is meant to be in the Yongzheng style.

All of these wares were made inJingdezhen and were transported t Canton to be decorated. But when? That's the question.

What would it have been used for? It is so beautiful, I can't imagine using it as a bowl.

I'm not savvy in the Asian pottery. What does Qianlong signify? Is it a region or time period? This bowl is beautiful!

      Hi jwendell222,
      Is my understanding correct?
This bowl may be a Qing Dynasty piece, but not from the reign of Emperor Quianlong who ruled early in the Qinq Dynasty?

      Thank you

      I agree with Jim.

this is more complicated , its a quianlong mark , but i could, not understand the third generation familie rose look , ( and why gilded ) because of the thick glazing , and the atypical qianlong

what happened here probably thet sourced it out to macao , see the left mark at the top its ( its upside down actually ) and the right under at the right

normally macao stuff is not the best , but this is rather well, i think its an outsourced 4 generation (macao or macao style ) famille rose bowl , time span i don,t know something like the seventies
