I picked up this trunk yesterday in CT at an estate sale. I don't see any markings anywhere in it including the hardware. Would love any feedback regarding age, type, manufacturer. It's metal with wood slats. Looks like the hardware and ornamentation may have been gilded. Inside is in tough condition (as is most of this trunk). This is a pretty large trunk. Any suggestions for restoration? Thanks in advance.

I just learned of a company called VanDyke Hardware. They are online and they may have what is needed for restoration. It is beautiful.

Looks like an early 1900's "monitor" style trunk... option for restoration are similar as per other trunk except the wire drill bit... no need for that on flat tin...

I am wiping some of the grime off this trunk and the tin either has some really weird oxidation going on or there is a speckled pattern. It appears to go under the hardware. Has anyone ever seen this?
