the NVA also known as the PAVN [People's Army Vietnam] used steel helmets imported primarily from Poland, but also from Czechoslovakia, East Germany and Russia, were used primarily by self defense forces, anti-aircraft and artillery crews and truck drivers. This steel combat helmet is Czech made with a leather liner & chin strap and also has a metal NVA cap badge attached on the front of the helmet & field made net attached by metal hooks. The Helmet was brought back by a US combat veteran that served in the US Marines during the war, this is an original battlefield pick up / war trophy.
a unique helmet with an interesting past battlegear ,thanks again for sharing what is a nice desirable example
I recently wrote a Wikipedia article on the Czech M53. I have some info on its use in Vietnam but more would be appreciated!
