very very beautiful and welcome to cw!!
This set was purchased in Detroit in 1956. It was moved to California in 1972 where it remained in perfect condition until my mother went into a nursing home in 2009. I inherited it in 2012 and upgraded the gold hardware to match the nickel finish of my parent's remodeled home. I had to return to Kentucky in 2014 and couldn't fit the set into my small bedroom.
The long dresser and the short chest belonged to my father. My mom used the tall dresser. The bed holds two twin mattresses but was fitted with an extension to hold the extra long twin box frames for a king mattress.
Well fancy that! It's a beautiful suite.
Something else I just remembered: The desk drawer removes and there are two spacious areas to hide things, enclosed within the desk. My mother kept her jewelry boxes in there.
