I picked this up today also, the only reason I bought it is because of the mark that is on it. Can someone please tell me something about these marks. I say a building in Indy with something like this or could have been this same mark. What does it mean?

Ok I googled it and it says it has more to do with Russia than the US. If that's true then why did I see a building in downtown Indianapolis with this on top of the building and I saw an older gentleman wearing a belt buckle with the same markings?
The bottom is marked 8 oz. That would be metric if it was from Russia.
fhrjr2, you are correct I did not think of that.
The top Wreath is same design as the Soviet Hat emblem and bottom believe collar crest for again, Soviet Uniform...
Can you get any more info on the building?
Sunnybrook I tried googling it with no luck. I really wsnt to know now so I will keep trying.
Everything I have found points to Russian.
It certainly is "Russian" or more accurately "Soviet" in style but why would "stainless steel 8oz" be marked in English if it was produced in the USSR. They do not use the same alphabet so couldn't possibly understand it. It is also unlikely that is was made for export as The Soviet Union had no export market at this time.
I think this is a much later piece from after the fall of the Berlin wall, perhaps made in this style to hold Vodka instead of whiskey.

There is probably a good market now in Russia for old soviet era style products, for some reason they look back on the period with nostalgia. There has been an explosion in Vodka producers in Russia since the law was changed in 1992. I assume these are sold filled with vodka and then the "empties" are sold as collectibles like some whiskey companies do with their ceramic flagons.
I think they are very striking items and would make an impressive looking collection.
Certainly, this bottle is not produced in the Soviet Union, and not even in Russia.
I am pretty sure that it was produced sometime in the middle of 1990.
Probably Made in Poland, After the collapse of the Soviet Union, in former union republics, similar items were sold to tourists. It goes to the same category as Lenin's t - shirts or matroshka dolls.
The Soviet Army did not use this kind of bottles.
