Like Manikin, I'm a little less then pleased with today's arrival. I bought this from a seller on Etsy who said it worked & the tick was very strong. Well, it stopped ticking after a few minutes. This is a gift for my boyfriends birthday in a couple weeks. I am a seller on ebay so I have to use this sight because ebay shows both your search history & purchases. Please allow me to rant for a moment. As a seller myself, I don't understand why people claim something works when it doesn't. we all know with these type of watches that they need to be watched for a few days, even a week. His feeble reply was, well it's vintage & they sometimes have problems. Not only that, this was shipped from England in an envelope, not a box, with a small amount of bubble wrap! I will take it to the jewelers tomorrow & see what it will cost to repair, otherwise, it's going back. So please learn from my mistake & proceed with caution. Thanks for listening!
I can guess which seller that is too......lots of Smiths Ingersollwatches listed......most are fantasy produced pieces.
Kerry, yes he does have lots of Smiths & Ingersoll, the fantasy ones as you stated. So you're probably right. Not a nice man either, not the slightest bit apologetic
He was selling lots on Ebay....until several other people turned him in for selling "Fake" watches and listing them as rare and original...... Hopefully simple clean and oil will fix your problem and can't gift it as planned. Fingers crossed
very nice SpunkysMom!!
oops just reread comment...should say "can gift it as planned"
sorry about that dear!!
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I hope it's not fake & is a simple fix. I will report him & send it back if I have to. I just wanted to buy a special gift.
Love the watch.
Cranky about the seller!
Thanks, everyone! I'm going to post the envelope he shipped in. No box, just a little bubble wrap from England to USA. I covered his address so I don't get in trouble!
Well, after taking apart & oiling, the watch repair man got it to run. He said it's filthy & will need a better cleaning then what he did & couldn't guarantee that it will still run, but it's been ticking strong for 6 hours. So, I will probably have to put some more money in to it's repair, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for now
Well hopefully all will be okay, fingers and toes crossed
Hi I just bought one like this. Not ticking but I just got it in the post today. Bought also on Etsy. I hope it’s not a fake. I bought a few from same seller and the pictures all look a little faded. Can you tell me who seller is so I know if mine are genuine vintage or just replicas?
I didn't see this until today when someone posted on it . I wonder what I had bought that came broke 5 years ago now :-) Hopefully the watch is still working . Poster Potionist she did not say it was a reproduction it was just shipped poorly . I could see these would be easy to reproduce . Best to buy from a reputable dealer or post your watch on here we have some watch experts that could tell you maybe what you have . The seller of her watch was in England does that help ?
