We had to spend a lot of time in France this summer but at least I had plenty of glass hunting opportunities. One day I got really lucky and found a RED vanity set, comprising an atomiser, two bottles, a pin tray and a small drinking glass. This was at a vide grenier where nothing costs a lot. A few days later in a junk shop in the same small town I found an ORANGE version of the larger bottle, but no stopper. For 50 cents, why not?
On arriving home all boxes, luggage etc. go into the garage to be sorted out later. Alas, by chance I came across the box with part of the vanity set packed into a vintage glass shade. All items well bubble wrapped and then the shade wrapped again before being boxed. I started to unpack standing in the garage, and you've guessed the rest. I'm holding the light shade but the contents are in a thousand shards on the concrete. I really loved the stoppers on these too.
Pic.1 All that is left of the red set.
Pic.2 The orange bottle.
Pic.3 The orange bottle and the remaining stopper are a perfect match.
Pic.4 The stoppers are sized to fit the rim and thus not interchangeable.
True, Valentino, and my own fault too.
Bummer!
I have always loved this combination of clear colours and black black glass.
Thanks for the sympathy racer. At least the stoppers weren't in the smash.
