How cool is this Japanese vase !!
Ive never seen one in these colours ever!
Its 6.5" high and very well decorated with its jade green & guilded black dragons & leaves with white flowers ...
The neck of the vase has a guilded raised dragon wrapped around it..
there is some age to it as some guilding has been rubbed & there is crazing to parts of the glaze only visible with magnification..
There aren't any marks at all so im hoping that someone on C/W can let me know anything at all about it ???
It was rescued from a skip at a recycle centre !!!!!!?????

well what was the conclusion here, i am curious
    14. surfdub66 surfdub66, 3 years ago
apostata , aparently its Japanese 1900s ish
seems all the comments have been taken down!
    15. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
      well i am flabbergasted actually
    16. ho2cultcha ho2cultcha, 3 years ago
it looks Chinese to me. But they can be difficult to differentiate.
    17. surfdub66 surfdub66, 3 years ago
Only going by what others have said ! I thought it was Chinese but changed the wording accordingly after the info

      i got some assumptions here
first of all forget the classic discussion , like i knew it the all way the dragon got 5 toes so it must chinese that is science obsolete because of the faking between china and japan and reciprocity

      how are we committed
imo we are are chinese commited by means of the red export rim beneath

what kind of scene is this or an dragon-or an dragon peachflower

what is the origan of this design it is the craving of the the Empress Dowager Cixi for turquoise ground where ( it became a sort of merchandising ( like prince and diana)
but is it real Dowager CIXi , no the quality is wrong and and 4 claws is never Dowager CIXi , because you are not allowad to deliver to the to the imperial household

So what are we discussing actually a type af fake style DAYAZHAI

1 the delicate style lets say 1890-1910
2 the rough style ( fauvistic , the frotte=+ the stroke is rough)lets say 1920-1950
3 smooth frotte the ultra smooth glassing from the 60 on

so it might possible be late republic period
    19. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
addendum dragon spiraea - versus dragon peach flower

      glassing is glazing
    20. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
correction its early republic dayahai maybe
    21. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
could also be Chrysanthemum that is even more likely , my head is a chaos sorry
