    trunkman
    (149 items)

Road trip find -- Albert Einstein put his initials on this one -- must have been him, cannot think of another A - E combination. It is also from his era and it has mass and full of energy and it is a square trunk. Possible connection to Schrödinger's cat hypothesis, but that depends on who opens the trunk. Whatever hypothesis you may wish to subscribe to, and there are many, it still is a nice smaller version of a 1890's trunk and I LOVE IT!!!

Actually, I think it was Mark Twain. "M.T." or "S.C." would have been too obvious. Twain didn't want it so easy that everyone could decipher it!

      Oh, nice trunk!

Thanks Jewels -- and scottvez for the nice comments... Einstein would have figured Twain out.... eventually.... given enough time and space...

This really nice trunkman. Is this an American or European trunk? I guessing, by the looks of the lock, it's American made. I love those fancy heavy brass locks. I notice in later years of trunk manufacturing, the locks and hardware just got cheaper and cheaper. Your trunk is beautiful. I love this one!

Thanks jscott, I find now that most of the trunks I buy come from around 1880's -- seems to be the pinnacle of trunk making where some handcrafted elements can still be found and the quality of the hardware is spectacular... once they began to get the manufacturing figured out the hardware got cheaper and cheaper over time -- can't beat this era and these types of trunk... and they are out there very affordable...

That’s not Einstein’s trunk- it’s Amelia Earhart’s! At least we’ve found her luggage...
