My father just purchased this Pedal Car about 2 weeks ago and absolutely loves it. This is a Ford Model-T Pedal Car, and is 1 of the 3 that were manufactured in 1913. The gentleman my father bought it from told him some of the history of the Pedal Car. First he told him there were only 3 ever made, and then he told him the other 2 were purchased a long time ago and are now somewhere in Australia. It always makes having a antique so much better when you know some of the history. If anyone has ever seen one of these before or knows more history about it I would love to know so I could tell my father about it because I know he would be super happy to learn more about it. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

I agree, I feel it is hard to take anyones word on something that they are selling. However, when I spoke with my father he told me the gentleman he spoke with who he bought the car from was close to 90 years old and was a friend of the family. Now obviously I know it dont matter about age or if you know the person or not but I said the same thing to my father about never taking someones word and always doing your own research.

My father is not the most computer savvy person so I tend to try and do my research online as much as I can. Everything I have looked up about this Pedal Car I have not found anything that is like this one. I have looked up a bunch of different cars and I have had no luck finding one that looks exactly like this one but I have found 2 other ones and one of them was just purchased 4 years ago in Australia which leads me to believe the story that my father was told was true.

Yes, there is a manufacter name on the back side of it. The name is SIMPLEX. On the back side of the car it says SIMPLEX MODELS, INC. MINEOLA,LL,N.Y.
and it says all that torwards the bottom and above where it says that it has two holes and one says WATER and the other says GASOLINE.

I will contact my father and see if he can get me a picture and I will post it on here hopefully sometime this afternoon. Walksoftly, those are the two pictures I found that look like mine that mention they were purchased in Australia, thanks for the links for others to see and for info on it.

Construction appears to be much more modern than 1913-- it may represent a vehicle that was first produced in 1913.

It appears to resemble cars from a decade earlier with the rear mount engine & tiller steering.

As the other car one linked to is a 1903, I would say this is the same year.
I will agree that based on the construction this is a 1950's car. As mentioned 1953 could be it as that was Ford's 50th anniversary, Golden Jubilee.
Probably a promotional item at that time.

What does it say just below the seat? ??? Runabout

      Very cool car.

I just got one of these and I love it. It's also in great condition. I've seen various ones online, some with the Ford logo, and others with '1903'. One of the nicest ones tI saw was perfectly restored and painted a beautiful black and white. I believe these were made in the 1950s and patterned after Henry Ford's 1896 Quadricycle, before Ford became a company in 1903.
