This sign as you can see from the pictures hung over the breezeway at one of the entrances to my paternal grandparents store in Homer Louisiana. There was a "display" window, then a set of "double doors"( in pic two you see the edge of the 2nd "display" window), then another "double door" entrance and then a 3rd "display" window. There was an identical sign hanging over the 2nd "double door" entrance just to the right (and out of view) of the picture above (the 2nd wooden sign was given to my sister who later lost it or left it somewhere in one of her many moves). My sign above also hung in the old house I remodeled (see my previous posting) and the 1st pic above shows it hanging in my house I have presently. This sign is a part of my heritage and one I've been dragging around from home to home since the store was sold back in the mid 70's (I wished I'd salvaged some of the 30 some-odd fans that hung on long poles in the old store. They were so old and so damn awesome.) This sign is a piece I will "never" get rid of. If you have the time, please read the story about the 114 year old house I remodeled. That house was as cool as this sign is cool. Both equally awesome to say the least. The posters in pic #3 above are of the sale we had, when we were closing the store, having sold the store building.
I have that hanging bell. I think I picked it up in the late 70's at a flea market. It was new then, but now it's vintage (weeps)
Thanks for the comment on the bell. Was unsure as to why my email listed a comment on the bell with the heading about the sign. Now that I see it in the pic here, I understand. Haven't quite stepped into the water at this site just yet. I only joined a few weeks ago. But having got my "toes wet" I'm starting to "love the water. Thanks for taking the time to look and thanks for noticing. Kerry
