Picked this up today. I find this trunk interesting with the 5 yr warranty, serial number and the name of Indestructo. it is veneer covering wood. it is in rough shape with missing veneer and a patch on the right side corner. Any insight about trunk or strategy to address missing veneer pieces would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff
Nice old trunk -- not familiar with veneer -- Bad news is the warranty has run out -- quick cheap fix is to stain the wood underneath for a close match -- who's to know? Veneer trunks are rare in my books -- never seen one before. Also look for old cedar chests online for cheap that have that waterfall effect for replacement veneer. Maybe others have better ideas...
Buy some veneer. It is fairly easy to buy.
If you are unsure of what kind you need, remove whats left of the area with veneer missing on both sides with you when you shop. Most home improvement places should have veneer but a smaller hardware store may be more helpful in getting a match with grain and recommending a stain.

I have a simpler idea, just leave it as is.

I an effort to share information here are two more patents that apply to this trunk.
