I found this pretty little mustard pot (pretty sure it's that and not a sugar) at a yard sale. No little ladle; my other mustard pot has the cutest little ladle but it's so small it would be useless for sugar. Anyway, I looked at the bottom and found this mark. The "E E" but instead of "Nippon" it says "Made in Japan". I'm pretty sure this was what I call a transition piece: made by the manufacture of Nippon wares but also made at the extreme end of the Nippon era, 1920, because of the word "Japan". At 50 cents it was a bargain!
(For some reason these photos are darker than when I edited them. The blue is cobalt and the gold is bright with no wear.)
Jwendell222, thank you for the link! I had a self induced computer glitch and found quite a few bookmarks missing, not to mention forgetting I could have checked these listings in S&T (which partly explains the glitch).
In case anyone is interested there's a fake Nippon chocolate set in the eBay listings, hour glass in the wreath, green and the Wild Rose pattern! It all comes down to doing your research and the gotheborg.com link is perfect.
