Hello! I always thought this belt was a gift from m my grandmothers brother who emigrated to America. But I have had a closer look and to my surprice it`s made in England by Martin. I think the thread is made from Flax (?). Would love information about the Company Martin ans any ideas on when this was made. Any ideas? Might it have something to do with the boats that took swedish imigrants to USA?

Oh my Jewels!!!!!! Thanks! The one you found looks identical to mine except the buckle is more beautiful on that one. Mine on the otherhand is some sort of sign of friendship between the countries or people from those countries. It sais nautical and that makes me think of the boats that took people from Sweden to America during the great emigration. Thank you for your help Jewels! It's a great lead and I'm so greatful! I just realized there is no nautic category on CW unfortunately. And I also realized I have a delicate problem on my hands, my child was given the belt and uses it while playing cowboy :-)......

Now I see that this was probably made just after worldwar II, at the time England was trying to rebuild itself. This belt buckle is some sort of friendship thing between people in Sweden and America. I have to think about this some more, in what context it came into my family.
The thing is - you will see a lot of these posted with different center emblems, tennis rackets, navy insignia, golf player, fisherman, etc. - and they all say circa early 1900's - no one bothers to check the patent date for the actual belt and buckle. Just goes to show you that not everything posted on the "sales" sites are truth.
Aghcollect I agree with you. Always keep a critical eye to things. I accept this as newer than I first thought. The reason why I thought it was older was how O thought we got it. But it could ofcourse be the next emigrant generation who sent it to us.

I have a tan leather belt that has the front middle leather covers the springs and cords. There is one on etsy with a naval front buckle says from 50s. Mine is definitely not military as it was my mother in laws who left Nazi Germany in 1938 and went thru England before coming to US so not sure if this is earlier or around 50's. I just checked today and saw the Martin with the same pattern numbers.
