I now own three pieces from Yukio Ueno, and all are so different it is difficult to believe they came from the same artist.
Clearly he has been a very talented and inventive glass blower.
As with most things the photos here do not really reveal the beauty of this vase.
Made of a rich ruby red with a black glass overlay, then a red glass overlay worked into flowers before the final clear casing.
The outer case has an almost milky sheen to it, so in certain light the edges of the flowers really "lift".
Ueno worked with Joetsu Crystal until at least 2010.
Like most glass from older artists this is unsigned, although it did come with it's original box and paperwork.
