Breweriana…
(70 items)
Here is a Bavarian Beer Thermometer I recently picked up at an online auction. This thermometer was made for the Mount Carbon Brewery located in Pottsville, PA. The brewery ran from 1845 to 1976 under various owners and names. Their Motto was "A Mellow Brew from the Mountains".
Production ceased in 1976 and brand licensing was sold to D. G. Yuengling (another brewery in the Pottsville, Pa area and currently oldest brewery in America).
The thermometer is rather small in size at around 5.5 inch wide which leads me to believe these may have been distributed to the public to advertise the brewery's Bavarian Beer. It even came with what I believe is the original box. The thermometer is in beautiful condition; by far the best example of one I have ever seen. I haven't seen to many of these in personal collections so I'm not sure of the rarity.
It's a very nice piece and I am happy to add it to my collection.
Thanks for looking.
