An Original Coloured Lithograph By Richard Caton Woodville.
35 inch high by 26 inch wide [ frame modern 15 years.]
Bought second shop Port Road Port Adelaide at low price
On bottom. it says The Last Shot at Colenso.
Under that small writing . But two men were left they continued
the unequal battle they exhausted the ordinary Ammunition
and finally drew upon the emergency round of case the last shot.
Lord Roberts Son KRR [ Kings Royal Rifles ] With Captain
Schofield And Cosgrave of the staff Volunteered to ride out
and endeavor to save the two field batteries in the open
Roberts horse was blown up with a shell and he was inflicted with
severe wounds to body and limbs. To our regret Lieutenant Robert
Succumbed to his Injures .[ Roberts received a Victoria cross
Another man a Corporal Nurse Also received a Victoria Cross.]
The Lithograph is signed R .Canton Woodville 1900.
