I would like help in finding out more about this trunk. The age, material, where it might have been from and how to clean it up. It came with an old ebony hair comb, brush and some family photos! Thanks, Justine
Wow, thanks. That explains why when I entered Bognerhez as a manufacturer there were no links. Do you think the outside is alligator or aged paint? I love the wood inside. Thank you so much, I will continue my search
Philip Kerr (British novelist) has a novel named, "Berlin Noir" , and in it he mentions this particular trunk with the same maker name"Turner es Glanz" . Here's the link: http://books.google.com/books?id=IJlmhILkxsoC&pg=PA395&lpg=PA395&dq=friedrichstrasse+193a&source=bl&ots=jlxAknM1WQ&sig=gQKGteggo3fDYv9GqN_sGZkpd7o&hl=en&sa=X&ei=owpDVOnYIcSMyAS5tYHYDA&ved=0CGcQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=friedrichstrasse%20193a&f=false
Hope this helps.
This is very interesting, I found in the trunk a photo of a man smoking a pipe and it's dated 1911, also found a poster/pictures of sorts of an angel with a phrase saying "je ne te delaisserai point" and a hand written inscription on the bac dated 1903 by Noel to Florence, other photos, a box, a ebony comb/ brush( set missing most of the hair ), a brush to clean clothes. I will attach more photos.
