Does anyone know what this did? I plugged it in and touched the 2 bolts on the left and had the hell shocked out of me. The middle dial controls the voltage output by the 2 bolts but I'm just unsure what the heck it was used for? Is it just another 'quack' medical device from the early 20th C.?
Was it a sex toy, as many of these old devices seem to have been???

Please respond! Any help is appreciated.

My advice is not to touch the 2 bolts on the left again. If it has that much voltage, - I doubt that it is sex toy, but then, I've had some weird ones. Hope somebody comes thru on this as I'm really curious.

I don't mean this in an insulting way but it seems ironic that someone would plug a device into a 120v outlet, touch the electrical terminals and think it's a "quack" medical device.

The first time it got it was purely by accident...just glad it didn't hurt worse than it did. I've seen devices like this before and had a good idea of what it was, just confirming my belief, considering the missing wand.
      Thanks for all the help!

AA, bet you didn't go quack when you did that! We had a rotating beacon on a tower at & airport & worked at that new bulbs refused to light up. I'm on the steel tower & a ripe 19 yr old with no way to test 440V with me. I decided to play multimeter & swiped a finger across a rotating commutator ring & confirmed that we had 440V! Tower said they saw a puff of smoke & I couldn't even sit up for about 5 mins.!! LMAO!! Luckily, I'm a fast learner! LOL! We all learn, just best to learn from other peoples mistakes!

It say's ozonater - a form of which is in common use today in industry + Swimming pools. It creates an ozone gas by way of the bulb + kills bacteria.
Common use is to remove tobacco or fire smoke smell from a room or building.
I'm with everyone else ,good thing you weren't standing in a puddle !

Can't speak directly to this, but will say that many years ago we came across an ozone generator that consisted of a long box with a blue neon tube thingy that sold in a New York second for a really good price. Smelt like a summer thunderstorm and hummed like a transformer when in operation. Does this do anything when plugged in other than zap yer butt?

Mine is 40s vintage and emits a pleasant ozone odor with a soothing sizzling sound. I'm not one for completing a circuit with my body so I never really got zapped. My advice....don't do that :)
