Salvation Army has yielded some great things the last few days and here's another. A very nice little silver pendant and it's marked to the point of excess. The first mark is .925 on the lobster clasp's spring loaded catch. Talk about tiny ! There are "Italy" marks on each of the chain attachments. The chain itself is silky smooth. Not sure of the term for this style chain. The pendant drop has two marks one .925 and another that I can't read. It's letters and the first one is "M" something. I would assume the stones are real opal and amethyst since everything else is silver and it appears to be a quality piece. -Mike-

Gorgeous. Aussie opal too I'd say!

Thanks Karen :) So you think it's a "Cooper Pedy" opal eh...that would be very cool !

Really pretty opal Mike. Sure look real to me, especially if they "breathe"...(which means the back is open too)

I sorta think it's older than the 90's...you really don't see much Italian silver anymore, of course I could be wrong about that!?

And I can't see the chain clear enough to tell what it is...phone camera? :)

Thanks share :) Yep both stones are open in the back. The opal changes color and is very fiery for such a small stone. The chain is very smooth and solid looking. I looked at it closely and appears to be four sided with wavy "S" shaped links. I think it's called a box chain. I thought it might be older too . My mom gave me a chain marked Italy and she said it was from the 50's so maybe 50's or 60's is not unrealistic.I think it has an Egyptian 60's look to it. My cheap phones camera can't do closeups and shiny objects very well. I use a photo editor to clean them up but even that can only do so much.

That stone is so typical of a Coober (not Cooper) Pedy stone. Real for sure!

Sweet ! Darn google ..I even checked to make sure I spelled it right. I was more worried about the Pedy part...lol. I did see a TV show about the town and the underground homes. Really interesting . Opal capital of the world and the finest stones !
