I recieved this doll when I was very young around 1954-1960. I heard through my family that an Uncle brought it back from the war for me..I don't know what war but it is entirely I believe bisque..it has a string attaching the legs, arms and head..it is approximitely 10 inches tall and has a crier in it but does not work..although it did work when I was kid as I remember playing with it. I have yet to see this doll anywhere on the internet and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it. The clothes are the original. Thanks so much...

It is a Japanese doll called "Ichimatsu" also called friendship, probably refers to the second world war. His head is bathed in a paste made from oyster shell powder and binders that gives it that white hue. They were offered in Japan when the war ended to the Americans who were there.
