Here are more interior pictures showing some of the amazing detail inside George Eastman’s house. The last image is of a special letter written by Eastman. It is well known to many of us in the camera collecting community. To quote from the www.pbs.org website:
“On March 14, 1932, Eastman invited some friends to witness a change of his will. After some joking and warm conversation, asked them to leave so that he could write a note. Moments later, he shot himself once in the heart with an automatic pistol. The note found by the household staff read simply: "To my friends, My work is done--, Why wait?" When his casket was carried out of the Eastman House, the accompanying music was *Marche Romaine*.”
Fascinating story.
for some bizarre reason, i imagined it in black and white!
Thanks, aghcollect!
BB2 ... yes it is a fascinating story ... then again, so was the man.
Looked him up & was slightly surprised to see that he was an atheist.
